Short Langtang Valley Trek 6 Days Itinerary and Cost 2024

Langtang valley trek is an incredible journey north of Kathmandu valley, inside the Langtang National Park. You can go on a long 10 days Langtang valley trek and even extend it to holy Gosaikunda Lake or Helambu, crossing Lauribinayak Pass if you have ample time to travel. However, for travelers who have limited time to trek and looking for something under a week, we have designed this 6-day Langtang valley trek program.

It is a short Langtang valley trek package that covers all the major attractions of Langtang Valley and leads you up to Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m). You begin the trek from Syabrubesi (2,380 m), where you will reach by a 6-7 hours drive from Kathmandu. The trail from here onwards gradually ascends and descends through lush subtropical forests. You will walk by beautiful remote villages, crossing streams & rivers. On the way, you can also see gorgeous waterfalls, verdant hills, and glimpses of snow-capped mountains.

Spending a night at Lama Hotel (2,470 m), you will walk past Ghoda Tabela (3,008 m) and Langtang village (3,430 m). The trail slowly opens up to vast meadows along with a clear panorama of the mountains like Langtang Lirung (7,234 m), Dorje Lhakpa (6,966 m), Ganesh Himal (7,422 m), Shishapangma (8,027 m), Mt. Kang Guru (6,981 m), etc.

The last village is Kyanjin Gompa at 3,800 m. It is an ancient monastery surrounded by guesthouses and homes of locals. Before leaving, hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,773 m) to witness a stunning sunrise and then retrace the trail back to Syabrubesi, where the trek ends. The entire program is 6 days long, and you'll be covering a great distance in a short span.

Langtang valley trek is usually known as a moderate trek with a gentle pace, perfect for beginner trekkers. However, this particular itinerary is only for those who can actually walk 7 hours a day, at minimum. The elevation gain is also balanced, so the risk of altitude sickness is quite minimal. Even if you get any symptoms of altitude sickness, our professional guide will help you with it and bring the necessary preventive measures into action right away.

The Langtang valley trek route is very scenic. In terms of landscapes, it varies and lets you relish varieties of them. As it is a guesthouse trek, you get to spend nights in the home of the locals. The Langtang valley is home to Tamangs and Sherpas. Tamangs are the main inhabitants of this area and are descendants of Tibetans. They are very kind and welcoming individuals with a very vibrant and centuries old cultural heritage. The guesthouse accommodation will let you see their daily lifestyle and practices very closely.

One of the impressive things about the Langtang valley trail is the presence of numerous stupas, chortens, mani walls, and prayer wheels on the way. Hanging bridges, trees, and many sections are marked with colorful prayer flags. The greenery of the Langtang region, with its faded color of hills and the richness of the flora & fauna is impeccable. Even though it is a short trek, you will have the most amazing time of your life exploring the Langtang Valley.

We highly recommend the Langtang valley trek in spring. The trail is magnificent in this season, covered with colorful rhododendrons and many other flowers.
