The trip begins early in the morning. After your breakfast at the hotel in Pokhara our team representative will pick you. We drive about 1:30 hours and reach Nayapul (1,050 meters). From Nayapul start the trek to Tikedhunga (1,540 meters) through Birethanti which takes about 4 -5 hours.  Walk around the local market in Tikedhunga and Overnight stay at tea house.

It is the second day of the trip. After having the breakfast in Tikedhunga, you will continue your trek to Ghorepani via Ulleri and Bhanthatihi. Short tea break at Ulleri. Trek through rhododendron forests witnessing beautiful scenery and exotic birds. After trekking about 5- 6 hours arrival at Ghorepani (2850 meters). You will get surprised by the breathtaking views of the splendid mountains, cozy teahouses and warm hospitality. Overnight stay at Ghorepani teahouse lodge.

It is the third day of the trip. Wake up early in the morning and hike to Poon hill (3,210) to witness most magical sunrise views. Hike to the top of Poon hill which takes about 45- 50 minutes. Witness the sunrise over snowcapped peaks. Hike back down and enjoy breakfast at the lodge in Ghorepani and get ready to set off to Tadapani. Observe waterfalls, rocks, wild animals, birds and green valleys in route. After hiking for nearly about 4 hours we will reach Tadapani. Overnight stay in teahouse lodge in Tadapani.

The fourth day of the trip, after having breakfast in Tadapani, we will hike toward Ghandruk (1950 meters). Hike downhills through scenic route. On the way witness some mesmerizing mountains.  After the hike about 3-4 hours, reach the beautiful village, Ghandruk. Walk around the village, engage with locals, learn their unique cultures and lifestyles. Overnight stay in teahouse in Ghandruk.

It is the last day of the trek. Early morning breakfast in teahouse in Ghandruk. Start the trek journey back to Nayapul (1,050 meters) which is about 9km away from Ghandruk. Enjoy the views of beautiful hills during trek about 4-5 hours and reach Nayapul. After that drive back to Pokhara via scenic road. After nearly 1:30 hours reach Pokhara to your accommodation. Ghorepani Poon hill budget trek difficulty

Trekking to Ghorepani and Poon hill is not that complicated. The hiking route is well made and goes through rhododendron forests. You may come across a handful of rocky and steep sections. The trail has long staircase climbing, which may get difficult for some trekkers. If you are fit and healthy, you can do Poon hill trekking without previous trekking experience. 

Altitude sickness

The risk of altitude sickness during Ghorepani and Poon hill budget trekking is comparatively less than on other famous trekking trails. Still, we cannot guarantee an altitude sickness-free trek because your body may react to changes in elevation. But, we can assure you, our trained mountain guide will take care of you in an adverse situation.

Ghorepani Poon hill budget trek involves basic lodge accommodation. The rooms are shared between two trekkers in a group. It's a simple accommodation trek. The services are limited. You get a clean bed and blanket with a shared washroom. The dining area is much warmer. For a better sleep experience, we advise you to bring a sleeping bag. 

Meals during Ghorepani Poon hill budget trek

Simple but delicious meals are given during the trek. We eat dal bhat for lunch & dinner as a heavy meal. It's a staple meal loved by Nepalese. You get both veg and non-veg options. Likewise, other dishes like chips, burgers, momo, noodles, etc are also available. Keep your meals as fresh and simple as possible. Try not to consume meat products while trekking because most of them are frozen.

For drinks, varieties of options are available, tea & coffee are common. You also get many alcoholic & non-alcoholic drinks. Caffeine and alcohol will dehydrate your body and make you vulnerable to altitude sickness. So, do not consume them while trekking. Similarly, drinking water is provided in all the lodges. You should carry some bars and snacks to munch while trekking.

Travel insurance ensures your safety during the trek. Even though it's an easy and short trek, we recommend you get travel insurance that covers emergency air evacuation. Because there are no good health care facilities on the way, we may have to evacuate you to a hospital in Pokhara in case of any medical emergency.

  • Internet: The internet facility on the Ghorepani Poon hill trek 5 days is quite good. The lodges have paid wifi service. There can be a disturbance in the network because of the remote area. You can also use a cellular network while trekking. 

  • Luggage: For luggage, we use a duffel bag. It's given by the company, so you do not have to buy it yourself. It is the main luggage during the trek. Porter carries it. Each trekker gets a 10 kgs weight limit. Likewise, you can carry a backpack up to 5 kg on you. If you have any additional stuff left that is unusable during the trek, you can store them for free in the hotel's locker room. 

  • Permits: The Poon hill budget trek needs two permits- Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and TIMS card. The package cost covers the expenses of both permits. Our team will get the permit on your behalf. The ACAP permit costs Nrs 3000 per person, and the TIMS card costs Nrs 1000 per person trekking in a group through a company.

The Ghorepani Poon hill trail has no ATM, and you cannot use cards. Likewise, there are many money exchange centers in Kathmandu and Pokhara, where you can exchange your money in Nepali currency. 

  • Nepal Visa: We do not guarantee of Nepali visa. The trekkers have to get it by themselves. You can obtain an on-arrival visa at all entrances of Nepal. Check your visa status and see whether your country falls under this facility or not. If not, apply for a visa in your home country.

  • No, you cannot go to Poon Hill by car. There is no road up to Poon Hill. You can drive up to Ulleri and hike to Poon hill. 

     

  • From Kathmandu, you have to drive to Pokhara. It's a 6 hours drive. Then from Pokhara, you have to drive to Nayapul, which is an hour long. Nayapul is the starting point of the Poon hill hike. 

     

  • You can rent a private car, jeep, or taxi to go to Nayapul from Pokhara. There is also a public vehicle that goes up to Nayapul.
