Ghorepani Poon Hill Motorbike Tour: 8 Days Itinerary, Cost
Ghorepani and Poon Hill are the two most famous destinations in the lower Annapurna region for a short trek. The gradual pace and well-made trail welcome hundreds of travelers to enjoy Ghorepani Poon Hill trekking. But you do not necessarily have to trek to witness the beauty of these two places. We have designed a very special Ghorepani Poon hill motorbike tour package that lets you explore all the thrill of these trekking routes on a motorbike.
Ghorepani and Poon Hill are located in the Annapurna Conservation Area, which is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Poon Hill is a hill station situated at an altitude of 3,210 meters. It takes around 5-6 hours to trek there from the nearest town of Nayapul. However, for the motorbike tour, we take a different route that goes from Pokhara to Tatopani. It is a 5 hours ride and covers 95 kilometers. The road up to Tatopani is black topped and graveled, so the ride will be pretty smooth.
From Tatopani, the road leads to Ghorepani village. This part of the track is unpaved and can be challenging to navigate in some places, so it's important to have an experienced guide to lead the way. The route passes through several small villages and lush forests, offering stunning views of the Himalayas in the background. The Ghorepani Poonhill motorbike tour also includes stops at popular landmarks such as the British Gorkha training center.
Once you reach Ghorepani village, the view is simply breathtaking. The village offers panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks, including Annapurna South, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre (also known as Fishtail), and Dhaulagiri. The following day, you will wake up early in the morning and hike to Poon Hill to witness a gorgeous sunrise and breathtaking mountain panorama.
After the hike, return to Ghorepani village and have breakfast before leaving the village. Riding via villages like Chitre, Sikha, and Ghara, you will cross Durbin Danda and descend to Ghara Khola. From here, the ride continues to Pokhara. We have one full day in Pokhara to explore the tourist sites.
In the morning, you can drive to Sarangkot and later visit places like Davis Falls, Mahendra Cave, Gupteshwor Cave, etc. On day 7, drive back to Kathmandu following the twist and turns of Prithvi Highway. The best time to do the Ghorepani Poon hill motorbike tour is during the autumn and spring seasons when the weather is clear, and the skies are blue.
One of the main advantages of the Ghorepani Poon hill motorbike tour 8 days is the flexibility it offers. Unlike a trek, where you have to follow a set itinerary, a motorbike tour can be customized to suit your preferences. You can choose to spend more time at a particular destination or skip a particular stop altogether if you wish. This flexibility allows you to make the most of your time and experience the beauty of the Annapurna region at your own pace.
However, it's important to note that a motorbike Ghorepani Poon hill motorbike tour can be physically demanding, especially for those who are not used to riding in the mountains. The roads can be steep and uneven, and the weather can change rapidly, making it important to have the necessary gear and equipment.
