21 Days Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley Trek is one of the most popular restricted trekking trails within the Manaslu Region trekking routes. The trekking follows the Budigandaki River originated from Mt. Manaslu (8th tallest mountain of the world) and revolves around the Ganesh Himal, Buddha Himal, Sringi Himal and other mountain vistas. Trekking to Tsum Valley is blissful act to do as this place is considered as the most sacred place where during 8th century Padmasambhava created tranquil place for people affected by war, famine and religious persecution to get shelter. Let’s trek to this newly opened trekking route which was opened for all just in 2002.
21 Days Manaslu Circuit and Tsum Valley Trek has become one of the most popular trekking routes of Nepal. Known famously among Buddhists followers as Himalayan pilgrimage destination located at Trans-Himalayan region Tsum is definitely a place to be up in the Himalayas. Tsum is Tibetan word which means Tsombo as vivid. As the name Tsum implies the place is equally alluring, Tibetan origin people’s culture and various stoned slabs written inscriptions. Moreover, the place identifies itself with Chortens and Mani Walls. Though Manaslu region was opened in 2002 Tsum Valley was opened in 2008. The place is rich in green lush vegetations and wildlife. Ancient monasteries like Rachen Gumba which is located on plateau of the valley. The place is very effervescent because it is located opposite to the slope of Mt. Ganesh. Trek preparation and Half day sightseeing in Kathmandu. In the morning after breakfast, we introduced your trek guide / leader. It will provide an opportunity to know your guide/leader and can ask questions about treks. After discussing with trek guide/leader, we start sightseeing tour. We provide private vehicle and guide for city sightseeing tour, you have time to shopping for trekking gear. Kathmandu Durbar Square The Kathmandu Durbar Square is listed UNESCO and this complex of palaces, courtyards and temples, built between 12th and 18th Centuries, used to be the seat of ancient Malla Kings of Kathmandu. It is the place where kings of Nepal are crowned and their coronations solemnized. An intriguing piece here is the 17th century stone inscription set into the wall of the palace with writings in 15 languages. Kumari Temple: Kumari temple is the residence of the living Goddess. Kumari, known as Virgin Goddess has got some specialties, she must be chosen from a typical Newari cast with nobody marks and injuries and will be replaced by another Kumari after puberty. Kasthamandap: Kasthamandap is believed to be constructed from the wood of a single tree in the sixteenth century. Kasthamandap is situated near to the Kumari Temple. The name Kathmandu was named after this temple. Patan Durbar Square: The Patan Durbar Square is made in 1600s by Mall Dynasty and the royal palace of Malla kings. It is situated in the heart of Patan City, also listed in UNESCO heritage sites.The square, consists of enchanting mélange of palace buildings, artistic courtyards and graceful pagoda temples. The former royal palace complex is the center of Patan's religious and social life and houses a museum containing an array of bronze statues and religious objects. There are three main courtyards or chowks, so named central MulChowk, SundariChowk and Keshav Narayan Chowk in the square. The SundariChowk holds in its center a masterpiece of stone architecture, the Royal bath called Tushahity.The Square also holds old Newari residential houses. In morning, after taking breakfast at hotel, your guide come to pick up . This will take 6 hours along with Kathmandu –Pokhara highway (Prithivi Highway) till Dumre and right turn from there and reach Arughat. Overnight in Arughat at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
You trek over a flat leveled path along the bank of Budhi Gandaki River through mostly terraces, numerous villages, green hills, some pretty waterfalls and lush green forest. To reach Liding, the trail fluctuates uphill and downhill through forest of Sal, Chilaune and other local vegetation. Liding is a village that lies on the banks of the Budhi Gandaki. Overnight in Sotikhola at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We reckon this takes about six hours. The meandering path passes through forest, villages, streams, pretty waterfalls and green valley’s until you reach Lapu Besi. This is a village mainly occupied by Mongolian inhabitants. Now you again traverse the zigzag path to reach Machha Khola and on to Khorlabeshi. There is a small market hereabouts with a few shops and lodges. Overnight in Machhakhola at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
You cross the Machha Khola [Fish Stream] and head upstream to the tiny village of Khola Bensi and the hot springs at Tatopani. The trail is quite exposed and challenging in places. After a short section of forest path you reach the single teahouse at Doban. At Lauri, you cross the river on a suspension bridge, and then climb on a high path to the fields of Jagat, where you camp. Overnight in Jagat at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The early part of trek moves gently uphill and then follows a flat leveled path. You cross a suspension bridge over Budhi Gandaki before you enter Philim. Philim is a big village mainly inhabited by the Gurungs. From Philim you climb a gradual uphill stopping for lunch at Ekle Bhatti. Lokpa is the first village as you enter the Tsum valley. You take an ascending route to reach Chumling stopping for lunch along the way. Chumling is located on the south face of the Shingri Himal. This day you enjoy a pleasant visit to the Gombas of Chumling. This day is challenging as it is an ascending path that stretches on almost the entire route. Overnight in Chumling at tea house lodge. This is a tough and long day of walking but the scenic views of the valley amply compensates for the long walk. Chhokangparo is situated on a flat land and consists of 2 settlements, Chhokang and Paro. From here you can get superb views of the Ganesh Himal range. Some households practice polyandry down here. This area is prominent for its Tibetan Buddhist heritage. Overnight in Chhokangparo at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Nile is the last village heading north in the upper Tsum valley. This village is situated on the banks of the Shiar Khola and it consists of large number of households. Mu Gompa is home to a very old monastery and there are no village establishments here. It is located at the highest and farthest point in the Tsum valley. This trail is used to import and export things to and from Tibet. You may come across several yak trains supplying goods to local villages. Overnight in Mu Gompa at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Today we can take excursions to the many snow covered peaks in the area for the most spectacular views of this trek. Take a Half day walk to the Nunnery and to a small pond a big further up to Nunnery. Or day a full day trek to Vajyo with your packed lunch as there are no places to buy our lunch. Overnight in Mu. Gumpa at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
On an entirely descending path. This day you can enjoy glimpses of the Punchen Himal that is unique in shape. This day you continue your descent by retracing the path from your ascent. Overnight in Rainjam at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
On the way you can enjoy views of Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. Gomba Lungdang is home to a beautiful and large monastery that houses monks (all females). Men are not permitted in some areas of this monastery. The most spectacular sunrise through Ganesh Himal range is a magic moment. Overnight in Gomba Lungdang at tea house lodge. After Breakfast at Gumpa, we take downhill keep our unforgettable and very close views of Ganesh Himal range to Rainjam and then gradual up and down hill to Ripchet, Ripchet is a big village where there are about 70 families living, it’s one of the most laid back village in this region, You can find very simple home stays. Overnight at Ripchet at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
As you follow the descending route you will pass by fairly dense pine forest where many species of birds inhabit the forest. May see some Musk dears on the other side of the river on sunny days. Philim offers you excellent landscape and the village itself is live and some nice lodges . Overnight in Philim at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
On a completely descending path. You leave the cultivated region around Philim as you descend along the path that follows the banks of the Budhi Gandaki River. At Tatopani (Natural Hot spring) you can relax in the warm and revitalize waters of the hot spring. Overnight in Khorlabeshi at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Today you pass through some mice villages as you observe the villagers absorbed in their daily chores. You can enjoy the pristine beauty of the waterfalls on both sides of the river. Khorlabesi is a split point to take another trail to Gorkha if you like. Overnight in Sotikhola at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
you cross over the bridges and cultivated areas and villages before you finally reach Arughat from where it started. Overnight in Arughat at tea house lodge. Meal: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Drive to Kathmandu and dinner with cultural program. This is a picturesque journey. While driving, you head up to Dhading Besi and Malekhu which is famous for delicious fish. En route, you can enjoy the mountain views, green sceneries, rice terrace fields, vegetable fields and people engaged happily in their daily life activities. From Naubishe you climb up to Thankot, the gateway to the capital city of Kathmandu; and this concludes our Tsum Valley trek. Nepali cultural dinner.
