Location, Transportation and Timetable

Newbridge, (Kusma) the put in point for rafting on Kali Gandaki river is just 3 hours from Pokhara and is reached by private transport provided by WhiteWater Nepal. Those departing from Kathmandu leave the morning before the trip, arriving in Pokhara mid afternoon. There is an orientation meeting early the same evening, providing you with an opportunity to ask any further questions you may have, to meet your fellow rafters, your guide and team. Overnight accommodation in Pokhara can be arranged on request. The 55km of Kali Gandaki river action takes 3 days. The return trip from the 'Dam' take out point of Kali Gandaki river trip to Pokhara is about four and half hour drive.

Description of Kali Gandaki River Rafting

The beautiful scenery on this remote river makes Kali Gandaki rafting/kayakingi trip a favorite among those looking for a short to medium length trip. The Kali Gandaki passes through narrow gorges, alongside tumbling waterfalls and jungle, traditional Magar and Chetri villages, whose inhabitants often venture down to the riverside to meet the rafters with traditional 'Namaste!'. There are superb opportunities to see the Annapurna Mountain range and a variety of wildlife and temples on River banks.

What we provide

Along with our high quality self-bailing rafts, we provide helmets, plastic paddles, wetsuits, lifejackets, and first aid kit.

We provide plentiful, healthy and hygienically prepared food and drinks. Tents and sleeping mats are also provided. Sleeping bags can be supplied upon request.

All our equipment is of the highest quality, clean and well maintained.

What to bring

Please bring with you shorts and a T-shirt or swimwear for on the river, suitable footwear for wearing in the raft, warm clothing for the evenings, a towel, sun block and your camera. A flashlight is also useful.

What you need to tell us

Please tell us if you are a non-swimmer, or not very confident in the water. Also it is essential that you inform us of any medical conditions that may affect your well being on the trip.

Don’t forget to request vegetarian meals if required.

Arrival at Kathmandu (1310m.) Welcome here in this mountainous country Nepal. After you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), the representatives of Himalayan River Fun welcome you and take you to the already booked hotel. The hotel staffs will be engaged for your accommodation and check in. In the evening, we will organize welcome dinner in the hotel with our team.

Flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara We board a flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. During the flight, we can savor the most outstanding views of majestic Himalayan peaks. After arriving in Pokhara, we are escorted to our hotel.

Drive to Nayapul & Overnight camping at river side After intaking delicious breakfast, we take an early morning 3 hours drive to Nayapul. Completely outfitted with apt rafting equipments and internalizing a thorough safety briefing, we begin our rafting journey from Nayapul. As we maneuver along the deepest gorge of the world, we navigate with our professional river guide a bumpy section of Class III rapids amidst a natural showcase of deep-wooded canyons, warm waters, sparkling side creeks and spectacular glimpses of wildlife. As we approach Modi Dovan, we rest the trip to a halt for camping. We embrace the most pleasurable moments while camping under an open sky of sparkling stars with a camp fire lulls us to sleep as we dream of the second day on the Gorge section.

The trip further proceeds towards Mirmighat. Paddling along the majestic waves and rapids, we raft past surreal vistas of snow-capped peaks, lush forests, unique bird life and exotic animal species. Finally, the trip ends with our arrangement for overnight camping by the riverside.

Raft up to Ramdighat & drive of flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu On this day, we resume our rafting journey along the challenging and demanding river. Basking in the grandeur of nature, we cross boulder-strewn whitewaters followed by calm pools, interspersed with frothing pulse-quickening rapid. Eventually, after rafting for two hours, we drive to Pokhara from where we either drive back to Kathmandu of fly back to Kathmandu.

    It is the last day of the trip in Nepal for this time. If you have time enough, you can have sightseeing and shopping in the markets. Before 3 hours of scheduled flight, our representatives of Himalayan River Fun will take you to the TIA. You return back to your homeland planning for another adventure trip in Nepal next time to visit.
